SPRINGY THINGY - DRAWING WITH FORCES

| Springy Classic | Springy Redux | Wetspace | Noisy Thingy | Future | Home |

After a couple of semesters, Springy Thingy had gotten quite substantial in terms of the amount of code and the Processing IDE was not the ideal for managing larger object-oriented projects. So John Rothenberg joined us on our Springy journey and S-T was ported over to the Java-Eclipse environment completely.

In the Wetspace edition, John Rothenberg developed an Intertial Momentum Unit (IMU) to be used as a three dimensional input device. The real-time translation and rotation of the device is streamed wirelessly to the modeling software, allowing the user to control the design process with this data. It was the pre-wii-mote era - so it was quite impressive in many terms. John was also a part of the 'sosolimited' - an audiovisual artist crew - so yes he brought the colors along with him :).
